Dealing with the loss of a limb is no easy task, but for Ronald “Red” Davidson, the team at Life Care Center of Crossville, Tennessee, helped him recover.

Red came to the facility for rehabilitation on Feb. 24, 2021, after undergoing a left below-the-knee amputation and an amputation of his right big toe.

When Red arrived, in addition to being unable to walk, he needed moderate assistance for bathing and some help with transferring from one surface to another, standing, grooming and getting dressed.

Therapists began working with Red on transfers with a walker, then advanced to crutches. Therapy also worked with him on standing activities to simulate doing home activities.

“My stay was awesome,” Red shared. “I’m glad I chose this facility. I had good food and great workers. My therapists are caring and fantastic. They have helped me walk again after surgery.”

“Red always worked hard when he came in here for therapy,” said Jolean Bramblett, physical therapist assistant.

Red mastered all of his activities of daily living and the use of his prosthetic leg. He is now able to walk with crutches independently. He returned home on April 9.
