When Denise Blevins came to Life Care Center of Elizabethton, Tennessee, she needed some help with most of her mobility and some of her self-care skills, such as grooming, bathing and getting dressed.

“She had been independent at home prior to her hospitalization,” shared Kaveri Pant, director of rehab services. “Her family reported that she hadn’t walked since her hospitalization and had been falling at home.”

Physical and occupational therapists worked with Denise to help her change her outcomes. They used manual exercises and exercise equipment, and she started to make gains.

“Everyone here has been so nice and helpful,” said Denise. “I love the therapy girls. The nurses are great, and I feel really good.”

Denise is now independent in her mobility and self-care again with the exception of needing supervision for bathing. She returned home on March 12, dancing her way out of the building!
